The Wisconsin School and the Foreign Policy of the United States of America
Образложење теме
Висконсинска школа (Wisconsin School) представља правац у историји дипломатије који су током 1960-их година у Сједињеним Америчким Државама формирали историчари са Универзитета Висконсин у Медисону. Главни интепретативни оквир школи дао је историчар Вилијам Еплмен Вилијамс (William Appleman Williams), чији рад су током наредних деценија пратили Волтер Лафебер (Walter LaFeber), Лојд Гарднер (Lloyd Gardner) и Томас Мекормик (Thomas McCormick). У раду се представља допринос историчара са Универзитета Висконсин развоју дисциплине историје дипломатије, кроз детаљно испитивање интерпретација које су наведени историчари развили у контексту ревизионистичких струјања у америчкој историографији. У првом делу рада се анализира интелектуално наслеђе Средњег запада, посебно идеје прогресивизма и њеног утицаја на катедру за историју Универзитета Висконсин у Медисону. Други део студије бави се приказом економске интерпретације америчке спољне политике, кроз призму идеје „отворених врата“, коју је Вилијамс развио кроз своје радове 1960-их година. Ова интерпретација имала је значајног утицаја на економску усмереност критичке анализе у радовима других припадника школе. У истом делу приказан је и начин на који је Гарднер истраживао идеолошку позадину америчке спољне политике у контексту Хладног рата. Слична анализа примењена је и на његово проучавање економских узрока америчког вођења рата у Вијетнаму. У последњем делу студије анализира се Лафеберов допринос развоју латиноамеричких студија и проучавању америчко-јапанских односа. Паралелно са тим представљен је и Мекормиков рад кроз испитивање његовог интердисциплинарног приступа „светског система“, који је он користио за проучавање историје Хладног рата. Крајњи циљ студије је да прикаже начин на који је Висконсинска школа допринела критичкој анализи историје америчке спољне политике током друге половине 20. века
